Pune Solapur Road: PMRDA Launches Crackdown On Illegal Hoardings Along Palkhi Routes; Ahead Of Pandharpur Wari
Pune, May 28, 2025: In a proactive move to ensure safety along the Palkhi routes, the Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) on Tuesday undertook a special drive to remove unauthorized and hazardous hoardings from key locations, including Loni Kalbhor on the Pune–Solapur Road in Haveli Taluka.
The campaign, focused on clearing the routes for the upcoming Sant Dnyaneshwar Maharaj and Sant Tukaram Maharaj Palkhi processions, aims to eliminate all illegal hoardings within PMRDA’s jurisdiction. Officials have already dismantled 21 such structures and plan to continue the operation over the next 10 days.
This initiative comes in light of the monsoon season, where heavy rains and gusty winds heighten the risk posed by unstable, oversized, and illegally erected hoardings. PMRDA officials emphasized that public safety is the top priority, and daily enforcement action is being taken accordingly.
Advertisers and property owners have been urged to voluntarily remove unsafe and unauthorized hoardings, particularly those obstructing visibility or traffic. Failure to comply will result in unilateral removal by PMRDA teams. The authority has also reiterated that no new hoardings will be permitted without prior approval.
The drive is being conducted under the supervision of Additional Commissioner Deepak Singla, Metropolitan Commissioner Dr. Yogesh Mhase, Joint Commissioner Sanjay Gaikwad, SP Amol Tambe, and Deputy Collector Dr. Deepti Suryawanshi-Patil, with support from local police and demolition teams.
