Pune, September 24, 2025: In a serious road accident on Wednesday evening, two bikers sustained severe injuries after being hit by a speeding car in Wanowrie’s Jagtap chowk. The incident took place when a vehicle, reportedly moving at high speed from Shivarkar Road towards NIBM Road, lost control and collided with a PMPML bus before crashing into two motorcycles.
The impact left the bikers — a 30-year-old resident of NIBM Road and a 25-year-old resident of Wanowrie — critically injured. Eyewitnesses stated that the car was being driven rashly, endangering not just the bikers but also passengers on the PMPML bus. Fortunately, no serious injuries to bus passengers have been reported so far.
Both injured riders were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where they are undergoing emergency medical treatment. Their condition is said to be critical but stable, as per preliminary reports from the hospital.
The Wanowrie police station team reached the accident site promptly and initiated further action. The authorities are investigating the exact cause of the accident and verifying whether reckless driving or mechanical failure led to the crash. Police officials also confirmed that necessary legal procedures will follow against the driver of the speeding car.
The incident has once again raised concerns over reckless driving in the busy stretch connecting Shivarkar Road and NIBM Road, an area known for frequent traffic congestion and rising accident cases. Residents have urged stricter traffic monitoring to prevent such mishaps in the future.
