Pune: A late-night drama unfolded in true Bollywood fashion in Pune’s Kothrud area when a speeding black Mahindra Thar,crashed into a row of parked two-wheelers, causing panic among residents. The incident, which took place around 8:45 PM near the Euphoria Khelaya area, was caught on CCTV and is now widely circulating on social media.
According to the police, speeding Thar lost control near a parking zone and rammed into five to six motorcycles lined up along the roadside. Fortunately, no casualties or injuries were reported as the bikes were unoccupied at the time. However, the damage to the two-wheelers was substantial.
Eyewitnesses described the moment as something straight out of a movie scene, with the Thar smashing through the bikes and then speeding away from the site. The incident falls under the jurisdiction of Alankar Police Station, where a formal complaint has been lodged by one of the two-wheeler owners.
Police have booked the driver under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act. The traffic department is also working to identify the vehicle’s owner and apprehend the absconding driver based on registration details.
Officials say this incident underscores the growing menace of reckless and drunk driving in Pune’s residential and commercial zones, sparking renewed calls for stricter enforcement of traffic laws.
