Pune: SPPU Holds 126th Convocation Today; Over 98,000 Students to Receive Degrees
Pune, September 29, 2025: The 126th convocation ceremony of Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) will be held today on September 29 at the Swarajyarakshak Dharmaveer Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Auditorium in the Iravati Karve Social Sciences Complex.
A total of 98,821 students from various faculties will be awarded degree and diploma certificates this year. Of these, 78,609 students will receive undergraduate degrees, 19,577 students postgraduate degrees, 270 students diploma certificates, 259 students PhD degrees, 103 students postgraduate diplomas, and three students MPhil degrees.
The convocation will also honour meritorious students with 89 gold medals, which will be distributed among 54 students from different streams. The science faculty has bagged the maximum number of gold medals, with 30 awards. Significantly, the number of gold medals awarded to male and female students is equal, with 27 medals each, according to an official release.
The ceremony will be graced by Chandrakant Patil, Maharashtra’s Higher and Technical Education Minister, and Anil Sahasrabudhe, President of the National Educational Technology Forum (NETF) and the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
The convocation is expected to be one of the university’s landmark academic events, celebrating excellence and academic achievements across disciplines.
