Pune: Students Face Academic Disruption Amid Faculty Salary Delays
The academic year at Tilak Maharashtra Vidyapeeth’s (Inurture) Computer Science Department has faced significant delays due to unresolved salary issues affecting the faculty. Initially scheduled to begin on July 15, 2024, the reopening was first postponed to July 22, 2024. However, further delays have now pushed the reopening to August 5, 2024. Despite this, faculty members have indicated that lectures will not commence as planned due to unpaid salaries.
A master’s student at the institution, informed Pune Pulse that no lectures have started and several faculty members have resigned over the ongoing payment issues. He noted that students are currently without a clear start date for their courses, causing considerable disruption to their academic schedules.
Students gathered at the Kesariwada campus today seeking clarity on the situation and discussing potential next steps. The delays have led to significant frustration and uncertainty among students and their families, who are eagerly awaiting a resolution.
Pune Pulse reached out to the faculty for comment. Faculty member explained that the delay in salary payments, which has persisted for several months, has led to the non-commencement of classes. Discussions with higher authorities are ongoing.
In response to student concerns, Inurture communicated via WhatsApp: “The issue has been discussed with the senior authorities and a solution to the problem would be offered within the next two days.”
