Baramati constituency Member of Parliament Supriya Sule shared on her X handle that the road from Baneshwar Phata to the Forest Department gate, which is approximately one kilometer long, is in a severely deteriorated condition. She, along with local residents, has repeatedly followed up with the Pune District Collector, PMRDA, and Pune Zilla Parishad, demanding that the road be repaired.

As Mahashivratri approaches, local villagers have warned of protests if the repairs are not completed. In response, PMRDA has stated in writing that the responsibility for this road lies with the Zilla Parishad. However, both PMRDA and the Zilla Parishad are passing the responsibility onto each other without taking any action.

On February 26, Sule issued a warning that if no concrete assurance regarding the road’s repair was given, a protest would follow. Despite this, neither the Zilla Parishad nor PMRDA has provided any assurance or taken substantial action. She highlighted that if residents have to go through such an extensive struggle for the repair of a single road, it reflects the insensitivity of the government and administration.

In response to the continued inaction, Supriya Sule announced that she would begin an indefinite hunger strike in front of the Pune District Collector’s office from March 4, 2025. She urged the government and administration to take note of this protest.
