Pune: Swift Response By PCMC Fire Brigade Contained Major Blaze In Nehru Nagar Scrap Yard
Pimpri, October 15, 2025: A major fire broke out early this morning at a scrap warehouse located near Annasaheb Magar Stadium in Nehrunagar, Pimpri. Thanks to the prompt and coordinated efforts of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) Fire Department, the blaze was brought under control before it could spread further. No casualties were reported in the incident.
Upon receiving the emergency call around 6 AM, the Fire Department immediately dispatched multiple fire tenders to the site. A total of ten vehicles were engaged in the firefighting operation, which continued for several hours until the flames were completely extinguished. The team’s swift response prevented the fire from spreading to nearby properties and industrial units.
Assistant Commissioner Umesh Dhakne commended the firefighters for their courage and composure under pressure. “Our team acted with precision and speed. Despite the rapid spread due to plastic and wooden scrap, their timely response ensured no loss of life,” he said.
Deputy Fire Officer Rishikant Chipade, who led the operation, added, “When we reached the site, the fire was spreading quickly through the yard. All fire teams worked in coordination, attacking from multiple directions using water jets to contain and extinguish it effectively.”
Additional Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil appreciated the department’s efficiency and appealed for public cooperation in such emergencies. “The fire team’s quick action helped avert a larger tragedy. Citizens are urged to immediately inform the Fire Department in case of any fire incidents. Timely reporting and responsible storage of scrap or combustible materials can prevent major accidents,” he said.
The PCMC Fire Department has reiterated its advisory asking citizens not to store flammable or waste materials in terraces, balconies, parking lots, or basements, and to dispose of them safely as a precautionary measure.
