Pune, May 2 — Marking the occasion of Labor Day and the foundation day of the Kondhwa-Yewalewadi ward office, a terrace garden and library were inaugurated at the office premises on April 30, 2025. The initiative was undertaken in alignment with the Chief Minister’s 100-day, 7-point action plan.

The library, comprising 700 to 800 books, has been set up on the ground floor of the office to promote reading among staff. Assistant Commissioner Laxman Kadbane, who led the initiative, stressed the importance of reading in the digital era, highlighting its benefits for mental exercise, focus, and reduced eye strain compared to screens.

In another eco-friendly move, a terrace garden was developed on the office rooftop using segregated wet and dry waste, in collaboration with Sai Janseva Pratishthan.

The joint inauguration of both the terrace garden and library was carried out by Additional Municipal Commissioner Prithviraj BP and Zonal Deputy Commissioner (Zone 4) Jayant Bhosale.

As part of the event, dignitaries reviewed various initiatives implemented under the 100-day plan and conducted an inspection of the office’s departments and facilities. They commended efforts made in beautification, citizen seating arrangements, accessibility for differently-abled individuals, bird water stations for the summer, the visitor registration desk, “Hirakani” room, counseling area, drinking water facilities, and parking provisions.

During his visit, Prithviraj BP praised the efficient use of limited space and appreciated the efforts made by the staff. He stated that citizen satisfaction is a reflection of the effectiveness of civic services and praised the office for its commitment to public welfare.

The event also included an appreciation ceremony for outstanding employees.

Present on the occasion were Assistant Commissioners Deepak Raut and Jagale, Apex Committee Member Mandar Vedak, Mohalla Committee Members Nerale and Tanwar, Dhaybhar, Deputy Engineer Mrs. Chaudhary, Administrative Officer More, Senior Sanitation Inspectors Dullam and Kadam, along with a large number of office staff.
