Pune: Thieves Break Open Donation Box at Punyadham Ashram In Pisoli, Steal ₹60,000
Pune, September 22, 2025 – A theft was reported at Punyadham Ashram in Pisoli, where unidentified persons allegedly broke into the temple premises and stole cash from the donation box.
According to police reports, the incident occurred between 11 pm on September 20 and 5:30 am on September 21. The complaint was lodged by the Ashram manager, who discovered that the temple’s donation box had been forcibly opened. The thieves broke the lock and latch of the box and made away with cash estimated between ₹50,000 and ₹60,000.
The incident took place opposite Somji Bus Stop, in the D-Mart lane of Pisoli. Kondhwa Police have registered an offence under sections 331(2), 331(4), and 305 of the Indian Penal Code against unknown persons. No arrests have been made so far.
Police Sub-Inspector Snehal Jadhav is leading the investigation. Authorities have begun gathering CCTV footage from nearby areas and conducting inquiries to trace the culprits.
This case adds to the recent rise in thefts targeting religious institutions in Pune, raising concerns over the safety and security of temples and ashrams in the city’s outskirts.
