Pune To Experience Increased Rainfall Activity, Temperature Drop

2025 Southwest Monsoon likely to be above normal, says IMD
An alert has been issued for Pune district until October 6, with forecasts indicating a marginal increase in rainfall activity in both the city and district, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). This comes after a brief lull in rainfall, with the city experiencing a warm start to October.
The IMD predicts light to moderate rainfall in Pune until October 7, with temperatures set to drop due to cloudy skies and rainfall. The IMD has issued a light rainfall forecast for Pune for the next three to four days. There are chances of thunderstorms; however, the city is unlikely to experience higher rainfall during this time.
The increased rainfall activity is attributed to a low-pressure system forming in the northern part of the Bay of Bengal, affecting central Maharashtra. Rainfall activity will be especially observed during the afternoon and evening over the next three to four days, with lightning and thunder also likely.
Other districts under yellow alert include Raigad, Ratnagiri, Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, Solapur, and parts of Marathwada and Vidarbha. These areas may also receive light to moderate rainfall.
After experiencing a good amount of rain between September 20 and 25, rainfall activity in Pune city and district had reduced significantly. However, with the predicted increase in rainfall, temperatures have started to fall. The night temperature dropped from 23.4°C on October 2 to 21.5°C on October 4, while daytime temperatures remain at a normal level of 31.9°C.
Residents can expect a cooler week ahead, with the IMD advising citizens to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts for Pune and surrounding areas.
