Traffic Diversions in Hinjawadi-Wakad Today Due to Mhatoba Yatra Procession
Expected crowd of 1.5 to 2 lakh devotees; traffic congestion likely, say police.
Wakad: Due to the annual Mhatoba Maharaj Yatra in Hinjawadi, a traditional Bagad procession will take place today (Saturday). As a result, traffic diversions have been implemented in the Hinjawadi and Wakad areas starting from Saturday afternoon, informed Deputy Commissioner of Police Bapu Bangar. Vehicular movement will be restricted from 3 PM to 10 PM.
The Mhatoba Maharaj Yatra, a significant religious event in Hinjawadi, is expected to draw around 1.5 to 2 lakh devotees. To ensure the smooth flow of the procession and avoid traffic congestion, changes have been made to traffic routes in the surrounding areas.
The police have appealed to commuters to use alternative routes and have urged cooperation to maintain order. Several areas in the city are also experiencing traffic changes due to Yatra-related events.
Traffic Diversion Details:
- Tata Tea Chowk to Wakad Naka: Traffic is restricted. Vehicles coming from Wipro Circle (Phase 2) via Shivaji Chowk to Wakad Naka must take a diversion via Tata Tea Junction → Laxmi Chowk → Bhujbal (Bhumkar) Chowk to reach their destination.
- Geometric Circle to Wakad Naka: Entry is restricted. Traffic must take a left turn from Mezza-9 Chowk via Shivaji Chowk → Laxmi Chowk → Bhujbal Chowk.
- Shivaji Chowk to Bhujbal Chowk: Closed for vehicles. Use Kasturi Chowk → Indian Oil Chowk → Wakad village as the alternate route.
- Kaspate Chowk to Wakadgaon Chowk: Traffic is restricted. Vehicles must turn right from Kaspate Chowk and proceed via Jagtap Dairy Chowk to reach their destination.
- Kaspate Corner to Wakadgaon Chowk: Closed. Use Mhatoba Chowk → Pink City Road for diversions.
- Restrictions also apply for vehicles:
- From Vinode Chowk to Kasturi Chowk
- From Dattamandir Road (Utkarsh Chowk) to Wakadgaon Chowk
- From Wakad Y-Junction to Kaspate Chowk
Citizens are requested to cooperate with traffic authorities and plan their travel accordingly to avoid inconvenience.
