Pune Traffic Jam Woes: Major Congestion Grips Key Routes, Citizens Left Struggling Amid Poor Planning

Pune News: Underground Road Network Planned to Ease City’s Traffic Congestion
A sudden wave of heavy traffic congestion brought parts of Pune to a standstill this morning, leaving thousands of commuters stranded in long, unmoving queues. With little to no traffic management in place and an apparent lack of planning during peak hours, frustration is mounting among city residents who feel increasingly neglected by the administration.
The chaos was especially severe along the Shivane to Shinde Bridge stretch and areas surrounding Nanded City, where traffic bottlenecks have now become a daily struggle for those commuting to work or school. The situation has worsened over time, with local citizens repeatedly raising concerns that continue to fall on deaf ears.
From as early as 8 AM, major traffic arteries, particularly the Shivane to Shinde Bridge road, witnessed a surge in vehicle buildup. By 10 AM, traffic was at a complete crawl. What’s making the problem worse is the visible absence of traffic police during these critical hours. With no one to direct or regulate the flow, drivers are left to navigate the chaos on their own, which leads to confusion, increased delays, and heightened stress on the roads.
Nanded City Link Roads Add Fuel to the Fire
The traffic troubles don’t end there. Roads connecting Nanded City to Shivane are now acting as congestion hotspots in their own right. As the number of vehicles continues to rise, the existing infrastructure simply isn’t holding up. Narrow roads, potholes, and poor maintenance are making commuting in this area more difficult with each passing day. Residents claim these stretches are not only ill-equipped to handle the volume of traffic but also dangerous due to their condition.
Despite multiple complaints and appeals to civic authorities, little has been done to improve road conditions or manage the traffic effectively. The lack of any meaningful intervention has further fueled the anger and helplessness of daily commuters.
It’s not just the delay that’s troubling citizens. The gridlock also leads to fuel wastage and adds to the mental toll of everyday commuting. Office-goers, students, and even senior citizens are among those hardest hit. The stress of starting the day in bumper-to-bumper traffic has now become a norm for many.
