Pune: Traffic Nightmare At Gangapuram Chowk As Pipeline Work Disrupts Viman Nagar Residents
Viman Nagar – The ongoing pipeline installation at Gangapuram Chowk, where four major roads converge, has led to severe traffic disruptions, leaving residents and commuters frustrated. The Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) drainage department is expanding sewage pipelines, a move welcomed by locals for its long-term benefits. However, the execution has raised serious concerns.
A trench dug at the center of this critical junction has been left open for over a week, creating daily gridlocks. “Punekars are unfamiliar with the rotary system, and it’s become a ‘me first’ scenario, causing complete chaos,” said Qaneez Sukhrani, Convenor of the Viman Nagar Citizens Forum.
The gridlock often lasts up to 30 minutes, with incessant honking adding to residents’ woes. The PMC Sewage Department and Traffic Police have been informed, but no immediate resolution has been provided. Sukhrani has urged authorities to address the issue swiftly, ensuring smoother traffic flow and relief for local residents.
