Pune: A traffic police officer was assaulted and manhandled by two women in the Hadapsar area while taking action against improperly parked two-wheelers. Following the incident, the Hadapsar police have registered a case against the two women.
The accused, identified as B Suryavanshi and Sangeeta Landge, were booked based on a complaint filed by Police Constable Ajinath Aghav. Constable Aghav, assigned to the Hadapsar traffic department, was part of a team towing illegally parked vehicles from a sidewalk near the Gadital area on Tuesday morning around 11 a.m. During the process, the women’s two-wheeler was being lifted by the towing van staff.
The accused protested the action and confronted Constable Aghav, engaging in a heated argument. They then assaulted him with a slipper and physically pushed him. Additionally, they issued threats and disrupted official work.
A case has been filed against the two women under relevant sections for obstructing government work and assaulting a public servant. Sub-Inspector Altaf Shaikh is leading the investigation.
