Pune: Traffic Restrictions In City Today From 8 AM To 2 PM For Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s Visit
Pune, October 16, 2025 — The Pimpri Chinchwad traffic police have announced a series of traffic diversions and restrictions that will remain in effect from 8 AM to 2 PM today, coinciding with the visit of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh to Pune.
Singh is scheduled to preside over the sixth convocation ceremony of Symbiosis Skills and Professional University and inaugurate the School of Defence and Aerospace Technology at the university’s Kiwale campus. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is also expected to attend the event.
Following the convocation, the Defence Minister will visit the Armament Research and Development Establishment (ARDE), a DRDO facility in Pune, where he will chair a meeting of the Consultative Committee for the Ministry of Defence. The meeting will also be attended by the Minister of State for Defence and several Members of Parliament from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha.
To manage traffic flow during the visit, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Vivek Patil announced the following diversions:
Vehicles traveling from Mulshi to Bavdhan and Pashan via Viva Circle will not be permitted and will instead be diverted through NCC Office Bhugaon, Kothrud, and True Value Underpass.
Vehicles from Chandani Chowk (Satara lane service road) to Bavdhan and Pashan via Viva Chowk will also face restrictions and will be rerouted via Kothrud or through the DIY showroom road.
At the Symbiosis convocation, a total of 1,532 students will graduate across various skill-based and professional programs. The newly inaugurated School of Defence and Aerospace Technology aims to strengthen India’s growing defence innovation ecosystem.
