In a heartbreaking incident, a 27-year-old man from Chakan, Pune, has been found dead after allegedly taking his own life due to a troubled love affair.

The victim, identified as Suryakant Ramdayal Prajapati, reportedly jumped into the Rajmachi valley in Lonavala, with his body discovered in a 370-feet deep gorge.

Prior to his suicide, Suryakant recorded a two-second video, which he sent to his second mobile phone left at home. Using this video and the location details, the Lonavala Shivdurg rescue team, in coordination with local police, launched a search operation that culminated in the recovery of his body on Wednesday.

According to police reports, Suryakant had been in a relationship with a girl in Chakan. However, he grew suspicious that she was seeing another man, which led to his emotional distress. On October 9, feeling despondent, he left home and did not return. When he failed to come back the following day, his family reported him missing at the Chakan police station.

Subsequent investigations indicated that Suryakant’s last known location was in Lonavala. Due to heavy rainfall in the area, the search efforts faced delays. His selfie video, showing the lush greenery and the valley behind him, provided a crucial lead for the rescue teams. After several days of searching, the Shivdurg team successfully pinpointed the video’s location to Rajmachi.

Early this morning, rescuers resumed their efforts and discovered Suryakant’s mobile phone a few feet away from the gorge. A foul odor soon led them to the grim discovery of his body. After a week of searching, Suryakant was found, tragically highlighting the emotional toll of love and heartbreak. Police have confirmed that the suicide was linked to his love affair. The Shivdurg team, led by Sunil Gaikwad, credited for locating him.
