In another incident,  Aakash Kasbekar, 25-year-old  youth from Undri died in Khadki after a chain collision involving a tanker and a minitruck; two others injured.

Aakash Kasbekar, died after being crushed between two minitrucks on the Pune-Mumbai highway in Khadki on Wednesday night. Two others, including a helper and a driver, sustained injuries in the accident.

The Khadki police identified the deceased as a resident of Undri and part of a transport business he ran with his elder brother, Deepak Kasbekar (31).

According to Deepak’s statement, Aakash had stopped on the highway due to a technical issue with his minitruck and called for assistance. Deepak arrived in his own vehicle, and the two attempted to tow Aakash’s vehicle towards Pune using a rope.

“We had put on hazard lights and stopped to re-tie the rope when it snapped at Khadki,” Deepak said. At that moment, another minitruck crashed into Aakash’s vehicle. Aakash, who was standing between the two trucks, was crushed in the impact.

The collision occurred after the third minitruck was hit by a tanker, which caused the driver to lose control. The helper, Muzaffar Mohammed, and the third minitruck’s driver, Laxman Patil, also sustained injuries.

Aakash was rushed to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries. The Khadki police have registered a case of causing death due to negligence against both the tanker and minitruck drivers involved in the crash.
