Pune: Undri and Mohammadwadi Residents Struggle With Persistent Power Disruptions And Low Voltage
For the past few years, residents of Undri and Mohammadwadi have been grappling with irregular power supply and low voltage issues. These disruptions have affected their electrical and electronic appliances, causing significant inconvenience.
Just yesterday, residents in the hilltop area near Country Club in Undri experienced major power outages. This morning, the disruption continued, starting at 8:30 AM and continued till 12.30 PM.
When Pune Pulse raised the issue with Dhawal Sawant, executive engineer at MSEDCL, he assured that timely maintenance and repairs are being carried out. However, he added, “If residents are still facing issues, I will visit the area next week to help reduce complaints and resolve the problems.”
The Mohammadwadi Undri Residents Welfare Development Foundation (MURWDF) has also brought the matter to the attention of Purandar constituency MLA Sanjay Jagtap. He promised to speak with higher authorities to find a solution. Additionally, MURWDF has sent emails to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, MSEDCL’s Chief Executive Officer in Pune, and Maharashtra Head of MSEDCL, Chairman and Managing Director Lokesh Chandra, seeking immediate action.
Residents are urging MSEDCL to address the frequent power disruptions and replace old infrastructure as needed. Suniel Aiyer, secretary of Nyati Chesterfield, stated, “MSEDCL must check all equipment, especially at Nyati Chesterfield and Nyati Serenity, which are 20 years old. Panels lack plugs for connection, and switchgear requires regular maintenance and oil filtration of transformers. None of this is happening, leading to breakdowns. Additionally, the load has increased without network augmentation.”
Abhijeet Deshpande, secretary of Nyati Esteban, also voiced concerns, stating, “Local MSEDCL officials must conduct thorough checks and oil filtration of transformers in various societies.”
Vikram Heble, a resident of Nyati Enclave complained that for a week, there has been frequent power outages.
Residents hope that MSEDCL will swiftly resolve these issues to restore reliable power supply to the area.
