Pune: Undri Residents Cry For Help As Crumbling Roads, Water Woes, High Taxes Persist Despite Being In PMC Jurisdiction
Undri, Pune | June 20, 2025: Even after eight years of being brought under the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) limits, the residents of Undri continue to face severe civic neglect. Crater-filled roads, water scarcity, encroachments, and lack of basic infrastructure have made life miserable for thousands of citizens—despite them paying hefty property taxes year after year.

The internal roads connecting key stretches such as Nyati Estate to Country Club, Country Club to Punekar Chowk, Dhruv Global School to Punekar Chowk, and Waterridge to Punekar Chowk have turned into dangerous, potholed paths. Commuting daily has become a nightmare, especially for school-going children, senior citizens, and two-wheeler riders who risk accidents due to the deplorable road conditions.
Adding to the woes, residents are still dependent on private water tankers, as there is no regular PMC water supply. There are no drainage lines or stormwater drains in place, and civic amenities like footpaths, public gardens, community halls, playground, etc. The situation worsens during the monsoon, as water stagnation and open potholes create hazardous conditions.
Residents are increasingly voicing their frustration on social media platforms, especially PMC’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle, but their repeated complaints have failed to bring any visible action.
Citizens are also disappointed with the inaction of their elected representatives. “Neither the MLA nor the MP has visited the area or held any meeting with residents to understand our plight,” said one angry resident. “They seem completely disconnected from the ground reality.”
With no relief in sight, the residents of Undri are now demanding immediate intervention from PMC officials to fix the roads, ensure reliable water supply, and restore civic dignity to this neglected part of Pune.
