Pune: US Citizen Among Two Arrested In Pimpri For Allegedly Pressuring For Religious Conversion

Pimpri | July 28, 2025 – In a shocking incident from Pimpri Camp, Pimpri Police have arrested two individuals, including a US citizen, for allegedly pressuring people into religious conversion. A juvenile involved in the case has been handed over to his mother.
The complaint was filed by Sunny Bansilal Danani (27), a resident of Block C-17, near Vaishnavi Mandir, Pimpri. According to the police, a case has been registered against Shepher Jevin Jacob (41), originally from California, USA, currently residing near Mukai Chowk, and Steven Vijay Kadam (46), a resident of Raisoni Society, Ajmera, Pimpri, along with a minor.
As per the FIR, the accused were distributing Christian pamphlets and allegedly enticing members of the Sindhi community to convert by offering mental peace, prosperity, and financial support. They claimed that accepting Jesus Christ would bring true happiness and described other religions and gods as fictional.
Both Shepher Jacob and Steven Kadam were arrested, and the minor was released to parental custody. Mobile phones used in the alleged activity were seized. The FIR has been registered under IPC Section 299, Section 3(5) of the Juvenile Justice Act, and Sections 14(b)(c) of the Foreigners Act. Pimpri Police are currently investigating the case.
Reports suggest that the Sindhi community has been targeted, with some already allegedly converting under misleading promises.
