Pune: Vasant More Slams MP Murlidhar Mohol Over ₹1 Crore Drone Show
Pune, September 22, 2025 – A grand drone show was organized in Pune to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 75th birthday. The event, arranged by Union Minister of State and Pune MP Murlidhar Mohol, featured 1,000 drones lighting up the sky with visual displays at the S.P. College grounds on Tilak Road. The show drew huge crowds, but it has now sparked a political controversy.
Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray) leader Vasant More strongly criticized Mohol over the expenses incurred for the event. To verify the cost, More directly sought a quotation from the same company that conducted the show. According to the quotation, staging a 30-minute performance with 1,000 drones costs around ₹1 crore.
“Spending such a huge amount on a few hours of entertainment raises serious questions. With ₹1 crore, crucial facilities at Sassoon Hospital could have been improved. Those who fly high in the sky should also pay attention to the ground realities,” More remarked, urging Pune residents to reflect on the priorities of their leaders.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena chief Uddhav Thackeray is set to visit Pune in the coming days. Party insiders believe his visit will energize local cadres ahead of the upcoming civic polls, where the party has been struggling to maintain its presence.
