Pune, September 27, 2025: In a remarkable act of generosity, Charan Namdev Vanve, a vegetable vendor from Shanipar Chowk, has donated ₹1,13,740 to the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to support flood-affected citizens in the state.

Vanve, who earns his livelihood by selling vegetables on the footpath at Shaniwar Chowk, personally handed over the cheque to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday, accompanied by Kasba MLA Hemant Rasane.

A devoted follower of Shankar Maharaj, Vanve has been saving ₹100 daily in a donation box placed before the saint’s padukas at his home. This disciplined saving practice was dedicated entirely for aiding people in distress.

Speaking about his contribution, Vanve said, “Ours is the third generation in vegetable vending. During the COVID-19 pandemic, my mother had donated ₹1 lakh to those in need. She always taught me that money should be used for helping others, otherwise it only adds to misery. Following her footsteps, I continue to set aside a portion of my earnings to help victims of natural calamities. Today, in response to the Chief Minister’s appeal, I have contributed my share.”

MLA Hemant Rasane praised Vanve’s gesture, saying, “Even in challenging circumstances, Vanve has shown how much an individual can contribute to society. His act of kindness is invaluable and an inspiration for many. With this contribution, we are also launching a campaign in the Kasba constituency to mobilize further aid for flood victims. I urge more citizens to come forward and extend their support.”
