Pune: Lunkad Greenland II Society in Viman Nagar has emerged as a model housing society by implementing sustainable and eco-friendly initiatives. Recognized for its outstanding efforts, the society has been awarded the title of ‘Clean Society’ for the past two years. The Swachh Survekshan team from the central government recently visited the society and commended its commitment to cleanliness and green living.
Established in 2003, Lunkad Greenland II Society has consistently prioritized environmental conservation. Residents have adopted various sustainable measures, including effective water management, rainwater harvesting, and waste segregation. The society recycles 25% of its water, significantly reducing consumption and promoting water conservation.
A major highlight of their initiative is the reduction of plastic usage. The society actively encourages residents to avoid single-use plastics and has installed composting units for organic waste management. Additionally, efforts have been made to enhance greenery by planting over 300 trees within the premises.
