Pune: Wakad Police Reunite Citizens With 120 Stolen And Lost Mobile Phones Worth Rs.20 Lakh

In a commendable operation, the Wakad Police Station under Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissionerate has recovered and returned 120 mobile phones, valued at approximately ₹20 lakh, to their rightful owners. These phones were traced across Maharashtra and other states.

The Importance of Mobile Phones

In today’s digital age, mobile phones have become essential for daily activities, including communication, entertainment, and documentation. Losing a mobile phone causes immense stress and concern, prompting many to seek police assistance.

Special Operation by Pimpri-Chinchwad Police

Under the guidance of Police Commissioner Vinaykumar Choubey, Joint Commissioner Dr. Shashikant Mahawar, and Additional Commissioner Vasant Pardeshi, a special initiative was launched to recover stolen and lost mobile phones.

As part of this effort, Senior Police Inspector Nivrutti Kolhatkar of Wakad Police Station formed a special team led by Police Sub-Inspector Shahaji Dhaygude, and constables Kaunteya Kharade and Pramod Gayake. Using the Central Equipment Identity Register (CEIR) portal, the team traced missing phones not only within Maharashtra but also in states like Bihar, Karnataka, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, and Madhya Pradesh.

Recovery Process

The team located the individuals using the stolen or lost phones and contacted them to facilitate their return. In some cases, legal measures were employed to recover phones from across state borders.

Citizens Express Gratitude

Over the past two months, Wakad Police Station has successfully returned 120 phones to their owners, earning widespread appreciation from citizens. The operation will continue to ensure more lost or stolen phones are returned.

This success highlights the dedicated efforts of the Pimpri-Chinchwad Police team under the guidance of senior officers, including Deputy Commissioner of Police Vishal Gaikwad and Assistant Commissioner of Police Sunil Kurade
