Pune: Wakad’s Shonest Tower Society Celebrates World Senior Citizens Day With Music, Tributes And Gratitude
Pune, August 26, 2025 – World Senior Citizens Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Shonest Tower Co-operative Housing Society, Wakad, where residents came together to honor the invaluable contributions of their elders.
Society chairman Nilesh Khobragade and secretary Yogesh Karanje emphasized the vital role parents play in shaping their children’s lives, dedicating time, energy, and resources selflessly. They highlighted that it is now the responsibility of the younger generation to ensure the happiness and well-being of their parents, just as their parents did for them.
The celebration aimed to encourage younger generations to spend time with seniors, value their wisdom, and strengthen intergenerational bonds. Both Khobragade and Karanje stressed that Senior Citizens Day is more than a single-day observance—it is a commitment to respect, gratitude, and care for elders throughout the year.
All senior citizens were felicitated with floral bouquets and invited to share their experiences. Senior women expressed their heartfelt thanks to the organizers, especially for providing a recreational center for cultural and social activities.
Society treasurer Jagdish Jagtap delivered the vote of thanks, appreciating everyone’s efforts in making the event memorable. The highlight of the evening was a soulful performance by the society’s “evergreen” senior citizen, Jawahar Vyas, whose melodious song was dedicated to his fellow seniors, creating a heartwarming finale.
