Pune: Cool cab taxis have now been officially permitted to pick up passengers from outside the Wakdewadi State Transport (ST) bus stand. The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) recently approved a proposal to allocate a designated stop for these air-conditioned cabs.

Previously, cool cabs were not allowed to operate from this bus terminal, which created inconvenience for passengers arriving from other cities who had no comfortable taxi option to reach their destinations within Pune. With the new approval, ST passengers can now avail cool cab services directly from the stand.

Sub-regional transport officer Swapnil Bhosale confirmed that the decision was taken keeping the convenience of passengers in mind. The move is expected to make commuting smoother for travelers.

Cool cabs are air-conditioned taxis mainly operating in Maharashtra’s major cities like Mumbai and Pune. These cabs are distinct from regular black-and-yellow taxis in terms of comfort, appearance (usually white, blue, or other colors), and slightly higher fares.

Cool Cab Availability in Pune:

In 2023–24, eight cool cabs were registered.

In 2024–25, only four have been registered so far.

Currently, 282 cool cabs are officially registered in Pune.

Until now, only Pune Airport and Pune Railway Station had official cool cab stands. With Wakadewadi ST stand now added, passengers have another convenient travel option.
