Pune: Wanawadi Police Seize 1.7 Kg Ganja Worth ₹34,240, Arrest Two Repeat Offenders In Hadapsar Industrial Area
Pune, September 22, 2025: The Wanawadi Police has arrested two habitual offenders for illegally possessing and attempting to sell ganja near Ramtekdi Industrial Area in Hadapsar.
According to officials, during a special anti-narcotics patrol on September 20, 2025, a police team led by API Umakant Mahadik and constable Mahesh Gadhave received a tip-off from an informer. The information stated that two men were waiting near Shrinath Food Company, Ramtekdi, with a red sack containing ganja for sale.
Acting swiftly, the team laid a trap and caught the suspects while they attempted to flee. They were identified as Avinash Shrirang Bhondwe (41), a resident of Sinhgad Road, Pune, and Sanjay Vishwanath Kathe (35), a resident of Hadapsar, Pune.

On checking their red sack, police found a plastic-wrapped packet and small paper packets containing ganja. The seized contraband weighed 1.734 kg, valued at ₹34,240.
A case has been registered against both under NDPS Act sections 8(c), 20(b)(ii)(C) at Wanawadi Police Station (Crime No. 378/2025). Further investigation is being conducted by API Mahadik.
The operation was carried out under the guidance of DCP Dr. Rajkumar Shinde (Zone 5, Pune City), ACP Dhanyakumar Godse, and Senior PI Vijaykumar Doke, with assistance from PSI Sudhir Chougule and a special police team including constables Daya Shegar, Mahesh Gadhave, Amol Pilane, Sarfaraz Deshmukh, Atul Gaikwad, Abhijit Chavan, Gopal Madne, Yatin Bhosale, Vishnu Sutar, Balaji Waghmare, Amol Gaikwad, Arshad Sayyed, Vitthal Chormale, Ashish Kamble, and Deepak Kshirsagar.
