Pune Rain Alert – Pune is expected to experience heavy rainfall tomorrow, August 8, 2024, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD has forecast intense rainfall in the Ghats, with a yellow alert issued for several districts across Maharashtra, including Palghar, Thane, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, and Beed. The alert warns of potential storms with winds reaching speeds of 30-40 km/h in some areas.

A red alert has been issued for the Ghats in Satara and Pune districts, indicating that heavy rain is expected to persist throughout the day. The IMD suggests that the intensity of rainfall in Pune may increase over the next few days.

The weather department’s forecast indicates that the country is likely to experience rainfall at 106% of the average this year. Maharashtra, in particular, is expected to receive more rainfall than usual.

The current ‘El Niño’ condition is expected to remain neutral in its early stages, with a potential shift to ‘La Niña’ conditions during the latter part of the monsoon, specifically in July or August. The IMD notes that La Niña conditions are generally favorable for the monsoon season in the country.
