Pune Weather Update: Pune is expected to experience heavy rainfall tomorrow, August 7, 2024. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted intense showers in the ghats and moderate rainfall in the plains.

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for several districts in Maharashtra, including Palghar, Thane, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Kolhapur, Aurangabad, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Akola, Amravati, Bhandara, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Wardha, Washim, and Yavatmal. These alerts indicate the possibility of thunderstorms with wind speeds of 30-40 km/h in some areas.

A red alert has been issued for the ghats in Satara and Pune districts. The IMD predicts continuous rainfall throughout the day in these regions, raising the risk of flooding in low-lying areas. Residents in Baner, Sinhagad Road, Warje, Dandekar Bridge, Patil Estate, and surrounding areas are advised to take necessary precautions to prevent water ingress into their homes.

The forecast suggests that the intensity of rainfall in Pune may increase in the coming days. The IMD has projected heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in the ghat areas of Konkan and central Maharashtra. For the next two days, moderate rainfall is expected, with an increase in intensity and coverage anticipated on August 4, particularly in the evening and night.
