Pune Weather Update: City Likely To Experience Light Rainfall, Heavy Rain Alert for Konkan Coast and Western Ghats
A low pressure area has formed in the Arabian Sea near Lakshadweep, prompting the Meteorological Department to issue a heavy rain alert for the Konkan coast, Western Ghats, and Madhya Maharashtra.
According to the Indian Meteorological Department, the low pressure area is expected to intensify into a severe low pressure area over the Central Arabian Sea in the next three days. This will bring moderate to heavy rainfall to the entire Konkan coast, Western Ghats, and Madhya Maharashtra.
The rainfall is expected to be particularly heavy on the Konkan coast, with thunder, lightning, and gusty winds forecasted. A low pressure belt formed over the coast from Mumbai to Kerala will also bring vaporous winds from the Arabian Sea, leading to increased rainfall.
The return journey of seasonal winds is expected to be halted due to the new system in the Arabian Sea, leading to continued heavy rainfall on the coast till Saturday. The intensity of rain is expected to decrease after Saturday.
Residents of affected areas, including the Konkan coast, Western Ghats, and Madhya Maharashtra, are advised to stay updated with the latest weather forecast and alerts to plan their activities accordingly.
The Meteorological Department has warned of potential disruptions to daily life due to heavy rainfall and strong winds. Citizens are advised to exercise caution and follow necessary safety precautions.
