Pune Weather Update: Thunderstorms and Rain Expected from April 1-3, Relief from Heatwave Likely

Pune Weather Update: Unseasonal Rain and Hailstorm Likely in Maharashtra
Pune is set to experience thunderstorms and rainfall from April 1 to 3, bringing much-needed relief after a scorching weekend. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the city will see a brief respite from rising temperatures, but the summer heat is expected to persist, with maximum temperatures reaching up to 37°C.
Hot and Dry Conditions Persist
On Sunday, Pune recorded a maximum temperature of 39°C, which was 1.8°C above normal, while the minimum temperature stood at 21.2°C, exceeding the usual level by 3.4°C.
The humidity levels dropped from 56% in the morning to just 20% by evening, indicating extremely dry conditions. No rainfall was reported in the past 24 hours.
Thunderstorms Expected in Early April
The IMD’s seven-day forecast suggests that Pune will have a partly cloudy sky on March 31, with temperatures fluctuating between 21°C and 37°C. From April 1 to 3, thunderstorms with rain are expected, bringing temporary relief from the heat. However, after this brief wet spell, clear skies will return, with temperatures stabilizing around 37°C.
Summer Heat to Continue
Despite the upcoming showers, summer conditions will remain dominant in Pune, with maximum temperatures hovering between 35°C and 37°C in the coming days. The combination of rising temperatures and low evening humidity will contribute to dry and warm conditions, typical of early April.
Precautionary Measures for Pune Residents
With fluctuating weather conditions, residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged sun exposure, and take necessary precautions against sudden temperature shifts. The heatwave and occasional thunderstorms may create challenging weather conditions, making it essential to stay updated with IMD forecasts.
