"Pyaar, Dhoka Aur Maut": Man Ends Life on Railway Tracks, Woman Booked for Abetment
A 25-year-old doctor in Bibvewadi, Pune, died by suicide on January 7 after being cheated by a man who pretended to be single. The accused, a resident of Sangli, has been booked by the Bibwewadi police based on a complaint filed by the victim’s father.
As per information, the young doctor had registered on a matrimonial website. The accused was also on the same matrimonial website. Both of them met on the website. Although the man was allegedly married, he falsely claimed to be single and expressed interest in marriage. The two met at a hospital in the Dehu area. However, the doctor’s family rejected him due to his behavior.
The accused later reconnected with the woman and manipulated her with promises of marriage. Over time, he extorted ₹10 lakh from her. When the doctor asked him to return the money, he gave vague responses. During an argument, the man revealed he was married and that his wife was pregnant. The revelation left the young doctor mentally distressed. On January 7, she consumed poisonous medicine at a hospital in the Bibwewadi area and passed away.
Following the incident, her father filed a complaint with the police. The Bibvewadi police have registered a case against the man for fraud and abetment to suicide. Police Sub-Inspector Shashank Jadhav is investigating the case.
This tragic incident highlights the dangers of online fraud and emotional manipulation, prompting calls for stricter regulation of matrimonial websites.
