Pune’s Metro Network Expands, Bringing Connectivity and Development

The Pune Metro has officially commenced operations from Swargate to Pimpri, marking a significant milestone in the city’s transportation infrastructure. With expansion plans underway to connect Swargate to Katraj and Pimpri to Nigdi, the metro network is set to transform the region’s connectivity.

Currently, work is in progress till Nigdi, and future plans include extending the metro facility to Bhosari-Chakan, Hinjawadi, Ravet, Chakan, and Nigdi, Moshi, Charholi and Wagholi. This development will have a profound impact on Pimpri and Chinchwad, along with Bhosari, making them central hubs connecting adjacent constituencies such as Bhor-Velhe (Mulshi), Maval, Khed-Alandi, Vadgaon Sheri, and Hadapsar Vidhan Sabha.

Urbanization and industrialization are on the rise in Khed, Shirur, Haveli talukas, making Bhosari an ideal central location. To further enhance connectivity, a 28 km elevated flyover is planned from Nashik Phata (Kasarwadi) to Rajgurunagar on the upcoming Pune-Nashik highway. This project, divided into two phases, will enable travelers to cover the distance in just 20 minutes.

MLA Mahesh Landge is actively pursuing the expansion of the metro line to enhance connectivity in Pimpri-Chinchwad city. The proposed routes include connecting Hinjewadi to Pimple Saudagar, Nashik Phata Bhosari Chakan and Hinjewadi Tathawade Punawale Kiwale Ravet Nigdi via Chakan. Additionally, plans are underway to link Nigdi-Triveninagar-Krishnanagar Santnagar Moshi Charholi via Wagholi.

Future plans also include extending the metro from Pune to Vishrantwadi, with potential further expansion to Alandi via Dighi and Charholi. This will connect areas like Moshi, Dudulgaon, Bhosari, Vadmukhwadi, and Chovisawadi to Pune and Pimpri-Chinchwad city. The Pune Metro’s expansion is poised to revolutionize the city’s connectivity, fostering growth and development in the region.

The elevated flyover project will be constructed in two phases: from Nashik Phata to Moshi toll road and from Moshi road to Charholi toll road. Once completed, this infrastructure will significantly reduce travel time and enhance the overall commuting experience. With the metro expansion and elevated flyover project, Pune is set to become an even more attractive destination for residents, businesses, and investors alike.
