Sukumar’s highly anticipated film Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil, debuted in theaters on December 5, following paid premieres on December 4. The film has shattered box office records, amassing a staggering ₹294 crore worldwide on its opening day.
India Box Office Performance
According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Pushpa 2 collected ₹10.65 crore net during its premiere shows and ₹164.25 crore net on its opening day in India. This brings the domestic day 1 total to ₹174.9 crore net and ₹209.2 crore gross, making it the biggest opening for an Indian film.
The movie achieved historic feats, including the highest single-day collection ever for a Hindi film at ₹72 crore gross, surpassing Jawan. It also became the first Indian film to earn over ₹50 crore net on the same day in both Telugu and Hindi markets.
Overseas Box Office
Pushpa 2 also broke records internationally, grossing $8 million on its opening day, setting a new benchmark for the largest overseas debut for an Indian film.
Day 2 Performance and Expectations
The momentum continued on the second day, with the film grossing ₹90.1 crore net in India, pushing its worldwide total past the ₹400 crore mark. Industry insiders now anticipate the movie to maintain its exceptional performance over the weekend.
