R. Madhavan falls for Kolhapur’s traditional Sarita! Reveals the secret to their 25-year marriage

R. Madhavan falls for Kolhapur's traditional Sarita! Reveals the secret to their 25-year marriage.
A R Rahman and Saira Banu have chosen to end their marriage after 29 years. Vandana Shah, who claims to have been part of their separation process, has shared her thoughts in several interviews. In a recent discussion, she asked actor R. Madhavan about the factors that might lead to a marriage not lasting and what financial considerations couples should keep in mind.
During this talk, Madhavan reflected on the early days of his career when his wife Sarita felt a bit insecure. He mentioned that certain financial choices helped bring stability to their relationship, allowing them to enjoy 25 years of a happy marriage.
While discussing financial management on the YouTube channel For A Change, Madhavan stated, “I was an actor, known as the chocolate boy in my early days, and many girls admired me. This can understandably lead to insecurity in a woman. Such feelings can be enough to disrupt a marriage.”
I used to ask my parents about their relationship, and they would tell me, “We chose to stay together for life, so instead of thinking things might go wrong, we believed they would go right.” They always maintained a joint bank account for everything, which I thought was a great idea.
Madhavan added, “If Sarita feels insecure about her bank account, we’ll set up a joint account and say, ‘This is ours, and you have as much right to it as I do.’ I believe our marriage will last, and I trust you, hoping you’ll trust me too.” This financial approach has really strengthened their bond.
He went on to say, “I’ve never questioned how much I earn. My wife handles all my finances. In fact, all our cars and properties are in both our names.” He laughed and mentioned, “I’m one of those who rely on credit cards because all my financial resources are managed by my wife.”
Before his acting career, R. Madhavan worked as a public speaking coach. During that time, he met Sarita, who was training to be an air hostess. In an interview with ‘Times of India,’ he shared, “I trained Sarita, and after she got her first job, she invited me to dinner to thank me; from that moment, our love story began.”
After being in a relationship for eight years, they tied the knot in 1999 following traditional Tamil customs. The following year, Madhavan received a chance to act in Mani Ratnam’s movie ‘Alaipayuthey,’ which went on to become quite successful.
