Raigad Fort’s Stairway Route Closed For Tourists Until August 15

Raigad: The Raigad district administration has imposed a temporary ban on the traditional stairway route leading to Raigad Fort following heavy rains in the region. District Collector Kishan Jawale announced that the route will remain closed for the entire monsoon season due to safety concerns, citing the risk of landslides and swift water flow along the steps.
The decision was taken after a joint review meeting between the Collector and Raigad Superintendent of Police Anchal Dalal. Officials warned that persistent downpours have made the stairway path highly unsafe for visitors. Tourists have been urged to cooperate with authorities and refrain from attempting to use the route until further updates.
The district administration has yet to announce alternative pathways for fort access. Meanwhile, teams continue to monitor the fort and surrounding areas closely to prevent any mishaps.
Elsewhere in Raigad, rivers like Savitri, Amba, and Kundalika are nearing or crossing danger levels. Mahad taluka, in particular, has been badly hit, with residents along the Savitri river being advised to move to safer locations as a precaution.
The India Meteorological Department has predicted very heavy rainfall in Konkan and nearby regions over the coming days, keeping the administration on high alert.
