Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, is currently in the intensive care unit of a Mumbai hospital, according to a Reuters report on Wednesday, which cited two sources with direct knowledge of the situation. The 86-year-old business icon’s condition is reportedly critical, sparking widespread concern.

Earlier this week, however, Tata sought to address speculations about his health. On Monday, he posted a statement on social media reassuring the public that his hospitalization was due to routine medical evaluations associated with his age and related health conditions. In his statement, Tata dismissed rumors about his health, stating, “There is no cause for concern. I remain in good spirits,” and urged the public and media to refrain from spreading misinformation.

Ratan Tata has been a significant figure in Indian industry, leading Tata Sons from 1991 to 2012. Under his leadership, the conglomerate expanded globally, acquiring major companies like Tetley, Corus, and Jaguar Land Rover, which transformed Tata Group into an international business giant.
