Rave Party Busted in Pune’s Kharadi: Drugs, Liquor Seized; Eknath Khadse’s Son-in-Law Among 7 Detained
Pune: Pune Police raided an upscale studio apartment in Kharadi during the early hours of Sunday and seized drugs, hookah setups, and liquor from an alleged rave party, officials confirmed. Seven people — including Pranjal Khewalkar, the son-in-law of senior NCP (SP) leader Eknath Khadse — were detained.
Acting on a tip-off, the Crime Branch conducted the raid and found narcotic substances such as ganja, along with alcohol and hookah paraphernalia, a senior police official said.
“We had received information about a rave party at an apartment in Kharadi. The raid was carried out accordingly, and seven individuals — five men and two women — have been taken into custody. A case has been registered,” the official added.
Following the development, Eknath Khadse questioned the intent behind the police action. “A probe should be conducted to see if there was a political motive,” he said.
Rohini Khadse, wife of the detained Pranjal Khewalkar, is the Maharashtra state president of the women’s wing of the opposition NCP (SP).
Reacting to the incident, Shiv Sena (UBT) deputy leader Sushma Andhare remarked that the raid appears to be a warning to those who speak out against the current government.
