Rekha Opens Up About Her Fondness for Amitabh Bachchan’s KBC on The Kapil Sharma Show
Veteran actor Rekha has revealed her love for Amitabh Bachchan’s popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC). During her appearance on The Great Indian Kapil Show, Rekha told host Kapil Sharma that she remembers every line from the show.
While chatting about her career and life, Rekha responded to Kapil’s anecdote about his experience on KBC. Kapil shared, “When I was a guest on KBC, Bachchan sahab asked my mother, ‘Devi ji, kya kha ke paida kiya?’” Before Kapil could continue, Rekha finished the story, revealing his mother’s reply: “Daal-roti.” Rekha then smiled and added, “Mujhse puchiye na, ek ek dialogue yaad hai (Ask me, I remember each and every line).”

Rekha and Amitabh worked together in nine films during the 1970s and 1980s. The duo’s on-screen chemistry fueled rumors of an off-screen romance, despite Amitabh being married to Jaya Bachchan. The alleged affair reportedly ended in the early 1980s. The trio later appeared together in Yash Chopra’s Silsila, often called the “casting coup of the century.”
KBC, the Indian adaptation of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, debuted in 2000 with Amitabh as host. He has been the face of the show since its inception, except for season two, which was hosted by Shah Rukh Khan. Currently in its 16th season, KBC airs on Sony TV and continues to enjoy immense popularity.
