Republic Day 2025: Parade Begins at 10:30 AM in Delhi; PM Modi Extends Warm Wishes

Delhi, January 26, 2025 – India celebrates its 76th Republic Day today, showcasing its military prowess and cultural heritage with a grand parade at Kartavya Path. Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is the Chief Guest for this year’s celebrations, accompanied by a military contingent from Indonesia participating in the ceremonial march-past.
Highlights of the Republic Day Parade
The parade will begin at 10:30 AM and is expected to last 90 minutes. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will commence the day’s events with a visit to the National War Memorial to pay tribute to India’s fallen heroes. He will then join the nation in witnessing the parade at Kartavya Path, where President Droupadi Murmu will take the salute.
Lieutenant General Bhavnish Kumar, a second-generation officer, will command the parade, with Major General Sumit Mehta serving as the Parade Second-in-Command.
A Grand Celebration
This year, the parade features 31 tableaux representing states and government services under the theme “Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas” (Golden India: Heritage and Progress). For the first time, a tri-service tableau will be showcased, symbolizing jointness and integration within the Armed Forces. Over 5,000 artists will perform cultural displays, spanning the entire length of Kartavya Path.
Approximately 10,000 special guests from various walks of life have been invited to witness the event, adding to the grandeur of the celebrations.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended his Republic Day wishes, stating, “Today, we celebrate 75 glorious years of being a Republic. We bow to all the great women and men who made our Constitution and ensured that our journey is rooted in democracy, dignity, and unity. Why Republic Day is Celebrated
Republic Day marks the adoption of the Indian Constitution on January 26, 1950, replacing the Government of India Act (1935) as the country’s governing document and establishing India as a Republic.

During a banquet hosted by President Droupadi Murmu in honor of the Indonesian delegation, members performed the Bollywood classic “Kuch Kuch Hota Hai,” adding a touch of cultural diplomacy to the celebrations.
One of the spectators attending the parade shared their emotions, saying, “It’s a moment of great pride to witness the Republic Day celebrations. It fills us with patriotic fervor every year.”
