Rohit Sharma made history during Mumbai Indians’ Eliminator match against Gujarat Titans by becoming only the second player in IPL history to score over 7000 runs. He joins Virat Kohli in this rare achievement.

Rohit scored a brilliant 81 runs from 50 balls, helping Mumbai Indians reach a strong total of 228/5. Before this game, Rohit had not been in great form, averaging just over 15 runs per match this season. But on this important night, he played like a true champion.

He had some luck early in his innings. In the second over, when he was on just 3 runs, Gujarat’s Gerald Coetzee dropped an easy catch. Soon after, Rohit edged a ball from Mohammed Siraj, but wicketkeeper Kusal Mendis dropped it. Rohit made the most of these chances and punished the bowlers.

Rohit’s great innings ended in the 17th over when he tried to hit another big shot off Prasidh Krishna but was caught by Rashid Khan. By then, he had done enough to put MI in a strong position.

Rohit now has 7038 runs from 271 IPL matches, with two centuries and 47 half-centuries. His best score is 109 not out. He also hit four sixes in this match, taking his total IPL sixes to 302. Only Chris Gayle (357 sixes) has more, while Virat Kohli is third with 291.

Rohit’s powerful batting helped Mumbai Indians stay alive in the tournament and gave fans a night to remember.
