RPF Constable Helps Woman Deliver Baby At Pune Railway Station
Pune, July 12, 2025: A woman delivered a baby at Pune railway station shortly after midnight on Wednesday, thanks to the timely intervention of a female Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable, who rushed to her aid like an angel.
According to reports, around 11 PM on Platform 1, a 29-year-old pregnant passenger began experiencing labour pains. At that critical moment, RPF woman constable Shilpa Ukade, with the help of others, assisted in the delivery.
Recognising the seriousness of the situation, Ukade and other RPF and GRPF personnel quickly created a protective shield around the woman, provided her comfort, and helped deliver the baby even before the arrival of medical staff. Ukade’s prompt and compassionate response has been widely praised.
The sub-station superintendent informed the RPF police station about the woman in distress at around 11 PM. Without losing a moment, Head Constable Ukade rushed to Platform 1, where she found Rajawati Kol (29) writhing in pain. Her husband, Ranjit Kol, was also present. The couple was waiting to board a train to Danapur from Pune.
“This remarkable act by our staff member Shilpa Ukade deserves high appreciation. This heartwarming incident at Pune railway station reflects the dedication and compassion of our personnel, who go beyond their call of duty to help those in need. It marked the beginning of a new life’s journey, made possible with the support of RPF and other staff,” said RPF Inspector Sunil Yadav.
