On 20 August 2025, during a routine train checking drive on Train No. 12779 Goa Express, RPF staff noticed two suspicious individuals in M1 Coach, later identified as AC Coach Attendant Lalit Jaychand Kumar (28 yrs, resident of Mathura, Uttar Pradesh) and OBHS staff Rahul Surendra Kumar (35 yrs, resident of East Delhi). Acting swiftly, the joint team comprising Sub-Inspectors Manoj Dhaygude and Vikesh Timande, ASI Eknath Gadhe, HC Ramnath Kekaan, Constables Vishwajeet Kakde and Prakash Padole, along with RPF staff from Daund and Ahmednagar posts, intercepted the suspects upon arrival of the train at Ahmednagar station.

Upon questioning, the duo admitted to smuggling liquor purchased from Goa with the intent to sell at higher rates in Delhi. A thorough search of the bedroll compartment of M1 Coach led to the recovery of 26 bottles of liquor, collectively valued at ₹11,970/-.
