Nagpur: Police detained a two-wheeler rider on Nagpur’s Central Avenue Road during a routine check as part of the Election Commission’s enforcement drive. When questioned, the rider’s evasive responses raised suspicion, leading to a search that uncovered Rs 1 crore 35 lakh 59 thousand in cash concealed in his bag.
With the Maharashtra assembly elections in the final campaign stage, authorities have heightened vigilance to curb the movement of illicit funds and resources. Acting on a tip-off, Tehsil police intercepted the rider with the significant cash haul, suspected of being intended for election manipulation. The funds were subsequently handed over to the Election Department under the Model Code of Conduct.
