Saiyaara Box Office Collection Day 3: Ahaan Panday’s Debut Film Creates History, Mints ₹83.07 Crore in Opening Weekend
Strong word-of-mouth and emotional storytelling push ‘Saiyaara’ to record-breaking success across India
Mohit Suri’s directorial Saiyaara, featuring debutants Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, has taken the box office by storm, registering a spectacular first weekend with a total domestic collection of ₹83.07 crore. Powered by glowing reviews and strong audience buzz, the film has set a new benchmark for debutant-led projects in Bollywood.
The film opened on a strong note, collecting ₹21 crore on Friday. Positive word-of-mouth quickly turned into surging footfalls, with Saturday collections jumping to ₹25 crore — a 25% increase. By Sunday, the film minted ₹37 crore, marking a 48% jump from the previous day. According to Sacnilk, the overall Hindi occupancy on Sunday stood at a remarkable 71.18%, with the evening shows peaking at 88.15%.
Saiyaara saw packed theatres across Tier I, II, and III cities, with Delhi-NCR recording the highest number of screenings (1,120 shows) and top occupancy levels. Other metro cities like Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad also reported strong turnouts throughout the weekend.
The film has now officially surpassed the lifetime domestic collection of Alia Bhatt’s debut film Student of the Year (₹70 crore in 2012), doing so in just three days. It is currently trailing only behind 2025’s biggest Hindi releases like Chhava, Housefull 5, and Sikandar, and is expected to overtake Sunny Deol’s Jaat, which collected ₹88.26 crore in total. Notably, Jaat had managed just ₹26 crore in its opening three days, a figure Saiyaara has more than tripled.
Trade analyst Taran Adarsh praised the film for breathing fresh life into the Hindi film industry. “The theatrical business has had a bumpy ride this year – kabhi khushi, zyada gham – and far too often, we’ve blamed the audience for not turning up at theatres the way they once did. But the problem lies with us, the industry,” he wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
He credited Saiyaara for reminding the industry of what truly matters: heartfelt stories and good music. “For many, star power became the be-all and end-all – and the neglect in writing and music was clearly visible. A young love story, driven by great music and heartfelt emotions, will always find its audience. I’m thrilled that Saiyaara has struck gold,” he added.
With its dream run over the first weekend, Saiyaara is on track to become one of the year’s most successful films — not just as a debutant project, but as a box office phenomenon in its own right.
