Samsung has officially announced the launch timeline of its long-awaited home robot, Ballie, which is now set to hit the commercial market in the first half of 2025. First introduced as a concept at CES 2020, the futuristic device has finally matured into a fully functional smart assistant with a wide range of features for smart homes.

Shaped like a yellow football with a baseball-like seam, Ballie is packed with powerful technology including cameras, motion sensors, LiDAR for navigation, built-in speakers, and most notably, a laser projector that can turn any flat surface into a display screen.

At CES 2025, Samsung demonstrated Ballie projecting the movie Uncharted onto a wall, showcasing its ability to adjust screen size based on available space. The projector is designed to stream content, display information, and effectively convert your room walls into dynamic digital displays.

Ballie also comes equipped with voice recognition, virtual foot-press buttons, and high-quality audio output, allowing users to interact seamlessly using the wake phrase “Hey Ballie.” The robot currently supports English, Spanish, and Korean.

Security is another standout feature. Ballie can patrol your home autonomously when you’re away, thanks to its mapping technology and dual cameras — a 2K rear camera and a 4K front camera. It can alert homeowners about unusual activity and function as a roaming home security camera.

In addition to entertainment and security, Ballie also functions as a smart home manager. It can control various IoT devices such as smart air conditioners, security systems, and geysers, as well as offer timely updates on traffic, news, sports, and weather. Users can even use it to create grocery lists, set reminders, or plan travel itineraries.

While Samsung has not yet revealed the pricing, the company confirmed that Ballie will initially launch in the U.S., with availability in other countries expected later.

As homes become increasingly connected and intelligent, Ballie marks a bold step into the future of AI-powered personal robotics.
