Savali Shelter In Pimpri Chinchwad: A Beacon Of Healing, Hope, And New Beginnings For The Homeless
Pimpri, August 5, 2025: In the heart of Pimpri Chinchwad, the Savali Shelter Home stands as a quiet but powerful symbol of hope for the city’s homeless and destitute. Run by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) in partnership with the Real Life Real People Foundation, Savali goes beyond basic shelter—it offers care, dignity, and a chance at a new beginning.
Designed for individuals who have been abandoned, are mentally or physically unwell, or found wandering the streets without support, Savali provides free access to food, safe accommodation, medical assistance, counselling, and a supportive community. Here, the forgotten are not just sheltered—they are remembered, rehabilitated, and reintegrated.
Each resident has a story of struggle, but many now have a future marked by healing and small steps toward independence. One such story is that of a man who was rescued from the streets eight months ago. With care and consistent support from the shelter staff, he has now started earning a living by selling incense sticks and puja materials—an example of how small interventions can restore purpose and self-respect.
Savali is staffed by a committed team that offers not just services, but also warmth, empathy, and reassurance. Beneficiaries describe the centre as a place where “we are not just safe—we are seen and heard.” The environment is built on trust and understanding, where residents are encouraged to rebuild not only their lives but also their confidence.
The shelter has also been recognized as one of the best in Maharashtra. In a recent report submitted by Trisharan Enlightenment Foundation under the guidance of the State Shelter Monitoring Committee, Savali was ranked first among all shelter homes across the state.
To ensure the continued well-being of residents and further improve the facilities, PCMC regularly monitors the centre. During a recent visit, Additional Municipal Commissioner Pradip Jambhale Patil interacted with residents and reviewed the infrastructure. His focus was on ensuring that all necessary amenities—from identity documentation to mobility access and emergency medical transport—are in place.
“Savali reflects the heart of our city—caring, inclusive, and responsible. It is not just a shelter, but a home where people regain dignity and direction. Seeing the residents smile, despite everything they’ve been through, is the strongest reminder of why initiatives like this matter,” said Pradip Jambhale Patil, Additional Municipal Commissioner, PCMC.
Speaking about Savali’s impact, PCMC officials emphasized that every homeless person is treated as a valued citizen. “We see each resident as an integral part of our community,” said Deputy Commissioner Mamta Shinde. “Our approach is rooted in dignity and inclusion—not charity, but care.”
Founder-President of Real Life Real People, M.A. Hussain, noted that the recognition received by Savali belongs to the residents and the dedicated staff. “This shelter is more than a facility. It’s a second chance for hundreds. And we are proud to serve,” he said.
