SBI Card Withdraws ₹1 Crore Air Accident Cover for Users; Here’s What You Should Know

SBI Card to Stop Free Air Accident Insurance on Some Credit Cards from August 11
SBI Card has decided to stop giving free air accident insurance on some of its co-branded credit cards. This change will start from August 11, 2025.
Till now, many SBI credit cards offered ₹1 crore or ₹50 lakh insurance for air accidents. These benefits were given on some ELITE and PRIME cards made in partnership with banks like UCO Bank, Central Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, Allahabad Bank, and others. But now, this insurance cover will be discontinued.
Cards that will lose the ₹1 crore air accident cover:
- Karnataka Bank SBI Card PRIME
- Karnataka Bank SBI Platinum Credit Card
- City Union Bank SBI Card PRIME
- Allahabad Bank SBI Card PRIME
- United Bank of India SBI Platinum Credit Card
- Oriental Bank of Commerce SBI Visa Platinum Card
- Federal Bank SBI Platinum Credit Card
- Bank of Maharashtra SBI Platinum Credit Card
Other Changes by SBI Card
From July 15, 2025, SBI Card has also made changes to how bills and payments work.
Now, the Minimum Amount Due will include:
- Full GST
- EMI
- Fees
- Finance charges
- Overlimit amount
- Plus 2% of the remaining bill
Payment Will Be Used in This Order:
When you pay your bill, the money will be adjusted in this order:
- GST
- EMI
- Fees and other charges
- Finance charges
- Balance transfer
- Shopping (retail spend)
- Cash withdrawal
What You Should Do:
If you use any of the above credit cards, make sure to check the new rules before August 11. If needed, you can choose another card that suits your needs.
