The 61-year-old man reportedly left a note expressing distress over a civil case pending since 1998; police say preliminary probe points to suicide linked to prolonged legal frustration.

In a tragic incident at the Shivajinagar District and Sessions Court in Pune on Wednesday morning, a 61-year-old man allegedly took his own life by jumping from the third floor of the court’s new building. Police identified the deceased as Namdev Yashwant Jadhav, a resident of Wadki, Hadapsar.

According to police officials, Jadhav had come to the court premises for proceedings related to a long-pending civil case. Around 11.45 am, he reportedly went to the upper floor and fell to his death. Senior Inspector from the Shivajinagar police station said that preliminary investigations suggest he was under distress due to domestic and legal issues.

Soon after the incident, police and court staff rushed to the spot. The body was sent to Sassoon General Hospital for post-mortem examination. An investigation has been launched to verify the contents of the note and other circumstances surrounding the case.
