Sewage water let into Ravet waterbody leaves fishes to die

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation counters the Ravet water pollution case with immediate enquiry on industries. As many as 100 fishes were found afloat dead as a result of mixture of sewage water released from industries straight into the low head dam at Ravet.

Vishal Bhondave one of the social worker and activist from the area, took the note of the issue occuring even after the visit of the mayor, Usha Dhore. However, the recent development in the story suggests that immediate testing of the river water has been ordered by the mayor. Even the industries are in the radar of investigation of the matter.
According to the information given by executive engineer, Sanjay Kulkarni, many angles are in the spot light for disturbing and contaminating the eco system. Sewage from entire Dehuroad Cantonment area pass through the drainage/nullah in front of Shinde pump and directly enters the river, as observed while the investigation was underway. The investigation also suggests that the chemical from Aquachem Laboratories, 37/A, company in Kiwale, is mixing with the water flowing from the small drainage beside the company into the river.
The water sample have been found acidic. MPCB has been notified to take action against the defaulters. Adding more backup to the investigation, the authorities have also seized the tankers, MH 12 FD 9451 and MH 12 AU 1915 belonging to Aditi Enterprises and MH 14 HG 5010 belonging to Gayatri enterprizes for illegally releasing the sewage water into the drainage through RCC Pipeline in Ravet.
The sewage water will be tested, based on which Pimpri Chinchwad Police will be involved to take an action on the culprits. The MPCB is still following up the matter, and soon more names be spotted into the matter, as informed by Sanjay Kulkarni and the mayor.
